All About Chromosomes

About the Workshop: The main goal of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with the cytogenetic techniques.

Workshop Topics: The workshop involves lectures and hands on training sessions about various cytogenetic parameters. It will enable the students to understand about the genetic material at cellular level and how the genetic material is under threat due to different environmental exposure.

Experiments:

1. Mitosis in Onion root tip

2. Evaluation of peripheral blood smear

3. Identification of human chromosomes

4. Visualisation of normal and aberrant chromosomes

Workshop Date: September 8, 2016.

Workshop Timing: 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Venue: Department of Genetic Engineering,

School of Bioengineering, 

SRM University, 

Kattankulathur, Chennai-603203

Registration Details: The registration fee for the workshop is Rs.200/- per participant.

Registration fee includes:

·       Participation in the workshop

·       Refreshment and lunch

·       Workshop manual

·       Certificate for successful completion

Note:  Transportation is not included in the registration fee. Participants will have to arrange for their own transport. 

Eligibility: Biology Students (11^th and 12^th class students) from Schools and Colleges.
